17th of October. Pushed off from UPNM heading towards Tourism Malaysia. Among the team mates, only Tuan Hisham and Tuan Khairul participated in PIC of previous year. Our aim? Be a finisher and come back in one piece. Medal or Cash prizes seemed too far for us to achieve. Furthermore, we didn’t have ample time to train. We also submitted another Admin order to Captain Nizam, so that the other half of the UPNM tri team can participate in the Mizuno run. But, too bad, Admin Order rejected. We’re just too tiny to complain or fight for that piece of approval paper to be approved. I really feel sorry for those who have the passion for sports but demoralized because of this kind of thing. Beneath our smile, who knows about our problems? Now back to blogging… gathered at Tourism Malaysia, meet all the familiar faces including our closest competitor UTM*grins* hehehe… I exchanged few words with Ong, the Power Bar Duathlete of the year. Miss Lyn the IRONMAN also spoke to me, asked if we’ll be going next year. Mr Alang Bendahara, was very friendly to us, he is from the press and he followed Aiman here. After briefing the whole UPNM-TRI-TEAM dashed into the Fanciful bus and filled in all the seats at the back. Our team is the biggest team, and the noisiest too. I wonder if other passengers in the bus got offended by us. Without wasting our sleep time, the sleeping bag we lay it out on the floor and sleepzzZZZZ… the 7 and a half hour journey was dark but illuminated by the variety style and colour of street lights. Here we come, and Terengganu welcome us=) Our busses were guided by the police out rider throughout our one day visit before depart to Pulau Perhentian. All the racers had very delightful local delicacies namely keropok losong, nasi dagang, ikan tongkol, and a variety of kuih. Visit to masjid Kristal was unforgettable because of its unique and rare design of the mosque. Racers were so excited to wear tudung and jubah into the mosque, snap pics and so on. The attraction of this place is the numerous replica of mosque from all over the world built in a park, and most of the buildings around here have its own Islam architecture. We also visited the Largest museum in Malaysia, but our time were so limited that we had less than an hour spent there. Lunch time, the local lady who served us near the counter was whining non stop because the athletes took more than one piece of chicken, so they got not enough But the racers show no respond, may be they couldn’t understand her strong Terengganu accent. She must understand that she is serving multi sport athletes, so our stomachs are extra ordinary! .
Took a boat to Pulau Perhentian, approximately 45 minutes to get there. We bumped into the Navy team, and all of us were so excited. The tent will temporarily become our asylum during the 3 days on island. Amirul was the in charge of this event, so he registered for the whole team. No doubt he did a great job, he deserves his credit. Ready for the game? URMm! Dinner and lunch on the island was quite good, mostly menu like normal chalet. RACE DAY, had our racing gears ready! We’ll run up and down the hill, kayak from Island to Island, run with fin, dive like dolphin, recover sand bag and swim in the crystal clear water. Our team did great, the result is in www.triathlonmalaysia.com. At first I didn’t expect to win this game, but seems like the whole team was in the first pack. Too bad for Tuan Singh and Tuan Farid, their kayak sunk and his shoes gone. No wonder I saw him at the beach before I complete my loop, and after the loop both of them still at the beach. Jungle trekking was challenging and steep enough for the knee to touch your chest. All the way up to the windmill with Rahman and Ah Fong, Mirul and I were together with them most of the time. Suet Fong is already an IRONMAN, hard for me to believe since not many girls can do that. Robika and Frankie were striving hard to get into the front pack. I salute Robika, she is a strong lady! She fought hard till the finish line and then she collapsed! When I teased her, she said “bertempur biar sampai titisan darah terakhir” hahaha. Navy team did excellent so do the UPNM team. All our team completed early and most of our racers will be getting cash prizes. Puan Emma is so famous in this sport, even Razlan remember her and he waited at the finish line for Puan Emma. I’m sure Tuan Hisham will guide her and back her up just in case she’s exhausted. She’s really rare, her passion for this sport is truly amazing. With the support from her boy friend, she’s now doing well in races. Keep it up=) we got to know new friends from all over the country, Tuan Khairul will surely in touch with the blond lady he became friends with, and those people we made friends with during the beach cleaning party.
Perhentian Island is beautiful and worth to visit. I give two thumbs up for this race!
Terengganu.. Where nature embraces heritage

the VC told us to write our opinion regarding few questions he asked. so all of us wrote in a piece of paper what we feel and what should be done. this is a very effective and smart way to improve communication between the higher authority and us. but, who will read those comments? will they read? will they consider our perspective? any action taken? hopefully will=) my OC told us to compile all the papers in a file, some of us sincerely wrote their feelings in it, and i can assure that they deeply hope their paper will be read by the VC. i read their comments, but some of them i firmly disagree. if your fitness is not up to the standard, how dare u complain about physical fitness? complaining about the Uni’s military Program isn’t the right move. they themselves should take charge of their own fitness, manage their time well. it is hard for Raja as our PMC to handle everyone at the same time maintain our morale. every evening we’ll have game parade, there’re pro and cons of this game parade. for sportsman, game parade is a waste of time, cause their workout time reduced, and worthless. but for lazy bums… it is very good and productive. make them run, make them sport! currently i have no time to train, and we didn’t get the approval YET. i wonder if we will get the same privillege to cycle out of the camp or train at our own time. why UPNM produced so many IRONMANs in few years time witth tremendous achievements in this International Level sport? Lt General Dato’ Ismail strongly support us, plus our own effort, we are able to produce the best result. nowadays cadets have their own opinion and sometimes we have positive arguements in class. it is normal to have own perspective, and we must listen to others as well. normally when i disagree with my friends i’ll straight forward tell them in an appropriate way. not necessary tell them in a NICE way coz we’re in the military, so we have our own culture. when we do mistakes, who will tell us “nicely”? days ago we’re discussing about blogging and helmi disagree blogger to blog about Uni. and i’m against him=p is it wrong to blog? why should we afraid of our doings if we’re doing the right thing? i’m sure UPNM is on the right path and accelerating in our performance. so why have to hide? we need publication to introduce our boutique university to the world. or some hanky panky stuff is happening here? sounds fishy right?*winks*
some people say we have no right to expresss our feelings, in a way it can be accepted. is that so? then the authority shouldn’t give a damn to the cadet’s opinion. cadets are the engine and the fuel while the authority is the driver. if the engine failed to work, but the driver force the car to move, will the car move? simple as that. i really like our OC Mej Nasir, he is a strict guy with sense of humour. he never tolerate with disciplinary cases but he keeps our morale high. he taught us ethics we should practise as an officer. he is a sharp shooter who represented malaysia when he was “young”=p now old already. i understand that certain problems in the military should be kept secret in order to prevent intrusion, but sometimes we have to work the other way round to get things done. one cadets wrote in his paper saying that he achieved nothing coz of the previous VC, that is a useless blame. that guy fainted during training, low fitness level but complain. this is the problem. or he needs out sider to correct him? or not him alone, may be them? problems are everywhere, how to solve? pandai2 la…
just now i watched “ayat-ayat cinta”, now listening to Rossa’s music video. is it wrong for an ironman to listen to love songs? i think this is another problem=p coz people expect ironmans to be stren i guess. *padahal ironman byk yg emo, jiwang, loving, luar keras tapi dalam lembut, macam ketam* i like Rossa a lot=p friends were teasing me when i downloaded this videos from Raja. in his administration, i’ll try to help whenever i can coz it isn’t easy for him. but as a commandant prize holder, i am sanguine that he is competent enough to carry out this duty as our intake’s PMC. all the 4 OPs of my batch studying engineering are in my class, or they purposely do so? haha 4 of us have the same kind of mentality. i wonder if our brain already being “standardizED” when we studied up there.
yesterday 4 of our tri team members in my intake went for 7km run, Mad need to improve his run. i actually have the intention to set another record for our University. i desperately want to bring the Uni’s name to the international level. i am DESSPERATE of that. that’s why last year my face appeared in paper many times. hehe. i never talk bad about our Uni when medias interview me. no point i against my OWN organization. A LOT of officers said the tri team will collapse after mejar Kalam left us, i am very disatisfied with that. URMmmm! whatz wrong with us? are we not capable enough to run our own club? huh? all this while we worked silently despite certain party against us, conteng our paper works.. but who knows? no one cares. what they hear is our winnings, achievements and the positive. how many times we failed? UNCOUNTABLE!i know mej Kalam is still with us! those triathlete seniors who commisioned years back will be proud of us for our result. next race will be perhentian island, we planned to send 10 teams if i’m not wrong. but now left only 5 place for the team category. someone gotta sacrifice. yesterday we had meeting with senior 2006, so the selection will based on contribution. i have made up my mind to tolerate and give way to the others. i want my intake triathlete to get exposure and we move together. i can race through out the year in any event, relay or solo. no big deal. so i let others to replace me. give them chance and hope, maintain their spirit at the max, support them during training. that is what UPNM tri team is all about.
this evening we have Tempur Tanpa Senjata, actually i thought of request for exemption. coz it will be more productive if i’m given the opportunity to train for my triathlon. i can do better, swim bike run faster and contribute to UPNM. but if i request, i’ll get scolding and may be punished. that will defintely happen coz i know they don’t like us to be different from others. they want standardise. hmm my upcoming thing to buy, a suitable TRISUIT. i dream of having a decent attire during my race since i was in form 4 but till now, i havent get it YET. i will get it… hopefully…
time to get ready for TTS! URMmm!

2005 i climbed mount kinabalu, highest in South East Asia..
and now, time to conquer Mount Tahan, highest in penisular…
almost
a week after the expedition, now only i blog=.= hopefully i can still
remember. undeniable, there’re certain sweet n bitter memories which
made us mature.
we pushed off from UPNM to Merapoh, everyone was
wearing Celoreng, macam la nak gi operasi=p at first i was in the first
group, then i decided to change to the last group.. orang kata malang
tak berbau.. tunggu dan lihat k?
start mendaki kat sungai
relau… under the steel bridge was the sactuary of Kelah. i was in the
3rd group, so we departure 2 days later. while waiting… u can have a
look what happened to the cadet when they back to nature…
the one
wearing underwear sambil gayut is cadet F**han. nak SMS kat merapoh
memang cukup susah.. Line MAXIS ada kat atas Aquarium, Celcom plak kat
bawah pokok.. very weird.. what to do right? thatz why lots of climbers
stood beside the Aquarium to SMS…
day 1, the climb to Lata Luis already made us muddy dirty yucky. but all the cadets still smiling=)
we
didn’t undergo proper training before going coz of busy routine, and
Mejar Radzuan was worried about us. the cadets wasn’t worry n started
the climb with confidence! we just came back from KDSI, so we fully
rely on those saki baki fitness to bring us to the top.
on d was up,
i saw an 60 years old chinese man carrying his 30kg backpack(he told
us). his bag, i think i can sleep inside, besar gila! Lt Hafizi
distributed his stuff to d cadets to carry, he only bring his tongkat
sakti. he went off with group B, so he waited for d group C at Kem Kor.
he finished 7 plates of food in Kem Kor! then later Mej Radzuan said "Hanan, knapa beras tak cukup? kamu gagal…"
**macam mana la beras nak cukup kalau sorang makan 7 orang punyer syer=p
group C memang nasib kurang baik..
Gunung
Tahan welcomED us with rain n sent us off with rain=.= all our stuff
were so wet! once i reached kem kor, we set up tents n bla bla.. cam
biasa la..
first thing, gi mandi.. aku nak jadi wangi! kena
hurung lalat macam la aku tak mandi seminggu.. at night, hujan. our
tent basah kuyup, no choice.. tido gak! tak peduli!
next
morning start our climb, Bukit Good Morning welcome us.at certain part,
steepness of about 70-80degree! macam panjat tangga.. but.. at this
area ada coverage! when i got message from my friends, it was like
getting an Olympic medal! happy gila beb! every single SMS we sent, it
took loads of patient, so those who received our SMS, appreciate it..
from check point to check points, itz really hard! i climbed kinabalu
before, so i can compare both. Tahan is a real CLIMB, not like
Kinabalu. redah sungai, jalan lecak, macam2 la.. once we reached Bukit
Botak, we threw out back pack aside n set up the tent. we’re super
duper exhausted, fatigued, macam2
no
matter how tired, we’ll still snap pics.. if not we’ll regret till the
last breath of our lives. Medic staff Fatimah reached the top despite
her legs swollen. on the peak, there’s a stone situated at 3 states
which is Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu. i walked around the area, so
i’ve been to 3 states within a minute=)
the breath taking view was… marvellous!
on
our way down.. we dashed all d way to kem kor. i guess everyone
desperate to go home. we all walked in the rain for hours. i can’t
stand cold, and i shievered while walking=.= i left 2 dry shirt for me
to wear at night! so i have to bear with it.
tough challenge but
good experience! Lt Efendi walked with me, we exchanged few words along
the journey. he is so fit! he walked faster than me!
according to the guide, the youngest KID who went up to the peak was 6 years old boy, son of another guide.
i
have lots of things to share, but i’m too tired to write. so i just
upload pics in this blog so that readers can understand better=)
CONCLUSION:
than
tougher than kinabalu, but it worth. itz a man-must-climb mountain.
don’t call yourself a man if u fail to touch the peak!=)

sibuk nyer aku minggu ni!
argh! assignments n tasks are pressuring me! dah la minggu ni test, bila nak study? aku pun pening… pening3! one week after malakoff, Desaru half ironman is our next event. without ample time to train, i wonder how we gonna complete the distance. Olahraga Angkatan Tentera on the same week! what the hell is this? macam la tak der masa lain nak wat event2 ni.. Ekiden run, every category we won. but my team got no 5, we sent all the 5 fastest runner in UPNM to compete in the man open category, but i can’t even see the champ n runner up, 2km run but they ran like 100m sprint.
today. all the navy start wearing white, new start for all of us. we dressed up as a true sailor to the class, walk with pride=p in the evening tech draw test=.=
i did very bad.. sigh… yesterday night math test, did a few careless mistake=.=
mechanical engineering isn’t that easy…

Kipas, one of the fastest runner in the team.
Ahmad, the supportive girl friend is the reason why he’s improving tremendously.
Mr Ngae the sahara man.
Senior Salman catching up!
Major Kalam our team manager. He’s a seasoned triathlete, part of power bar elite team.
Fathi: 2nd year in this sport, 2nd time doing Olympic distance
One of our super senior Tuan Syahir..

Faris Al-Sultan@Sukhbir Singh
a powerful cyclist, our President of UPNM Tri Club.
Hisham halim
Joke all day long, Senior Singh has become his target since day one they met.

Super Senior Salman Alias
Fastest
Ironman in UPNM, currently holding the record. very committed in
guiding the juniors and friendly. In addition, he is also helpful, he’s
the one who lead the team when we cycle. we just draft.
Major kalam’s son.
the one wearing blue trisuit.
Puan Emma. our only iron lady in this team.
Mat Black.
everyone doubt if he is a kenyan.
currently the fastest relay runner, may be because of his skin.
our team before the swim starts.
Mr Farid.
another strong runner in this team.
Aiman the relay runner

Mr Paira
this
guy offered me his seat after the desaru ironman. i will not forget him
coz at that time my whole body was so painful, and i was a junior so i

floor, while me the individual half ironman finisher sat there for
hours! he offered me his seat where i can comfortably rest my back..
thank u sir!=)

19th july saturday duathlon in UKM
from
the previous post, and now the latest post.. what we can see is the
team is expanding, increasing, improving and all the positive spirit
among team members is one of the major factor who we are and where we
stand today. in UKM, within 5 hours, we brought back a handful of
medals from UKM duathlon series.
i would say the UPNM flag is
the team’s ensign. few months back when Salman, Amru, Saiful, Jasmi,
Mejar Kalam, Puan Nurina and i went for IRONMAN, the flag followed us
to the finishing line.
UPNM duathletes won most of the medals.
if i were to name all the winners in this blog, then itz better for me
to intro the whole team since more than half of the team brought back
medals.
Accidents are normal for cyclist, but for the first time,
Puan Azuwa fell frm the bike. BUT, she’s still the top 5 for her
category.
unlucky for those who got penalty. Tuan Salman our
strongest cyclist pulled us all the way till the finishing=p then after
transition, we left him behind. "kacang lupakan kulit" we entered the
wrong way, but the marshal didn’t even correct us! they even told us to
enter the transition area. i’m sure they’re first-timer-marshal. after
the race, the organizer decided to give us time penalty, we have to
accept it. our fault for entering the wrong way, but marshal’s fault
for not standing at every junction. suppose we have 3 athletes who make
it to the podium, but now we left 2 survivors.

just
came back from KDSI 1 within one week, and now i’m back for race! no
doubt i’m not in a very good shape. Kenyir Lake’s Race, i’ve been
getting advices and comments from my triathlon friends, telling me that
the cycling route is killing! i wonder how true it was.
the UPNM triathlon team pushed off at about 5pm,
from the picture everyone can see=) thatz how our team traveled frm KL
to Kenyir for 18 HOURS!!! pushed off frm KL at 5pm, then we have to
stop by at Kuantan Airforce base but we don’t know how to go, so we
just move around and asking the local people. before 12am we reached
there for re-fueling. the 3 tonner was so crowded! 16 racing bikes plus
21 cadets. luckily we brought mattress along=p half will sleep and the
other half will sit. our helmets were tied together as seen in the
picture just like a bunch of grapes. in the middle of the night, the
pilot decided to stop by the road side to SLEEPzzZZZZ..
12pm once we reached kenyir lake, fixed our bike and check in.
the chalet was kinda luxurious.
here is OUR TEAM, Major Kalam’s apprentice!
once we settled down, here is our Faris Al-Sultan UPNM version! don’t play play..
we visited the Herbs garden, and tried the infamous Kacip Fatimah and Tongkat Ali. Azhar bought both.
he said "budak kecik tak boleh minum, nanti tangan nak pegang. korang jangan nakal2, nanti aku repot kat Major Kalam"
thumbs up for the food!
Race Day
Major Kalam and Sanggup Richard.
the result will be announced soon. kenyir lake is way better then
Titiwangsa and Famosa and Bukit Merah. the water is clear and the most
important thing is, itz not smelly. the cycling part was really
challenging, just like what Mr Chan said-the rolling hill.=p 10km run,
up and down the hill, un-explainable by words. so, come to the race and
experience it yourself!
1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run. our mix relay got third! congratz! 900 ringgit into their pocket=p
*steve told me that he swam in the lake middle of the night before
race. thatz scary! the lake is "infested" by tomans and yet he dare to
swim! the tough part of this race is actually the traveling part, to
get there isn’t easy! this huge ironman triathlete CYCLED frm Kuala
Terengganu to KENYIR! he cycled there! after the race he cycled BACK!!!!
so he saved 180 ringgit=p he’s a good example for XXL people who wish to have high stamina!

before our voyage back to Lumut, all the cadets were standing at the port and starboard side of ship for special sea duty. suddenly Lt Hafizi called me n asked for CO Kedah’s number. He called the Senior Officer Present Afloat of MAWILLA2 and requested for permission to pay a visit to the Senior Squadron of The New Generation Patrol Vessel KD KEDAH.
the Commanding Officer of that new ship is Kepten Chan Peng Cheong, this year 45 years old, commanding a 2 years old ship. i wonder if people can understand if i blog abt the ship’s system. this ships is simply too complicated, i visited the ship many times but still haven’t fully understand her generally.
once we alongside Markas Wilayah Laut 2, we’re all seperated into 2 groups. one group will go for short tour at MAWILLA2 while the other group will round the ship.
i was in group 2, so i round the base first. itz round my own neighborhood actually cz my house is there but that time i was a CADET, not Chan Jun Shen.
the base is just like those pics in my profile.
next we went on board KD Kedah. once we stepped on the gangway, we salute the ship since the ship carry the title Kapal Diraja n hoist the ensign. CO gave a talk abt the ship, kinda detail.
to be continue..
